Amalfi Coast in Mid October?

Our trip is supposed to start in San Gimignano and head south to rome over 12 days, but I have always wanted to see Positano and Pompeii.

Is it worth driving from Rome (airport upon arrival) to Positano for 2 nights, 3 days then driving up to San Gim. on the 3rd day to meet the other couple we are travelling with?

It's a lot of driving, especially after what I assume is a long flight. Is it "worth" it? Yes, but why not fly into Naples instead of Rome?

We purchased airfare a while back. We are coming from London and will be in about 10am. So we won't have a long flight directly behind us.

Hi J,

You will have to rent a car for 3 days while on the AC.

For the same or lesser cost, I suggest taking the train to Naples and a limo to Sorrento.

Pick up your car in Sorrento and drive to San G.

Enjoy your visit.
