Thanks again for the continuing advice. How about the weather in late Sept/early Oct? Is this still high tourist season? Looking at about Sept 25-Oct 7 to include both our anniversary and DH's b-day.

We were in Sorrento at the end of September/early October last year and found it less busy than it is in June. Obviously there are less hours of daylight and a greater chance of rain. The air quality was very poor and my DH had to go to hospital due to breathing problems.

That is a nice time to go although there are still crowds there. We didn't have a problem with the air in mid Oct. last year in the Amalfi area. Also the weather was nice for walking most of the time although there were one or two colder and windy days especially when we went up higher and in the evening. Most of the time we didn't need a jacket.

Trip reservations made! We leave home Sept. 22 and return Oct 3. Now down to the nitty gritty stuff.
My husband is strongly leaning toward driving the coast. If we wind up doing this, does anyone know a place (Sorrento?) where we could leave the car overnight so we could stay overnight on Capri? Are there secure garages, etc.?
Thanks as always for your advice.

There is a parking garage on the road that winds down from Piazza Tasso in the middle of town to the docks- It's a covered garage where you can park overnight and get to the ferries easily.

Hi Conlet - Where are you staying?

There are hydrofoil/ferry services to Capri direct from the Amalfi Coast (- Amalfi & Positano) if you prefer not to park in Sorrento.

The garage I mentioned is in Sorrento. There is also covered public parking in Positano, it's extremely expensive and the access to the ferries involves more climbing of stairs.

I don't know of overnight parking in Amalfi, but of course it's well served by the local buses.

Thanks for the garage info. We are not yet sure of exactly where we will stay, but Amalfi or Sorrento seem to be the better choices (not as hilly!). Now that we have airline res, I can concentrate on places to stay.
