Amalfi Coast - first week of Nov.

We are trying to plan our honeymoon (Nov. 1 - 14) and have always dreamed of going to the Amalfi Coast. Is Nov. an OK time to go? I checked and the Hotel Poseidon has extended its season for the first time through the months of Nov and Dec. We were also considering adding Sicily.

tHE ALMAFI COAST SHOULD BE BEAUTIFUL, IT'S A WONDERFUL AREA, AND IN NOVEMBER THEIR WILL BE NO CROWDS. I'm a little concerned that the Hotel Poseideon is extending it's season, there is no one there in November, sounds fishy. I'd shop around a bit.

This is what the web site said:

The Aonzo family, owners of the Romantik HOTEL POSEIDON, have decided to extend their season for the first time in more than forty years, giving clients the possibility to pass the months of November, December, until the 10th January, in their hotel in Positano. The Town Hall is also organizing various forms of entertainment such as film evenings, concerts, music on the beach, fireworks etc. so that your stay will be full of culture, fitness and lots of FUN.
***************************************
It seems some places close Oct. 31. Will restaurants be open. Your last sentence worried me a little. What did you mean no one would be there?

Don't worry, I meant not crowded. I misunderstood when you said, "extended their season", I misunderstood it to mean, that they were extending their high season rates, so sorry, my mistake. Actually, with those things going on, not to mention all the other sights there are, should make for a wonderful trip. I prefer Italy in the "off season", during High Season, it is really crowded.

Our other thought was to wait and go in May. What do you think about that?

I was in Sorrento in mid OCtober andit was still warm and less crowded than summer, though still very busy. As long as sun worshipping/ poolside lounging isnt your priority I think November would be great - sunny, light-jacket weather...

We went in May. The season was just starting, and there were no real big crowds. Prices were still low, too. The weather was awful, so rainy it caused a deadly mudslide near Naples, but I do believe that was unusual.

I would still go in November, you'll have a great time, and the weather will still be nice. Are you planning on spending all your time in that area?

We are thinking of spending maybe 4 nights in Positano with day trips to Pompeii and Capri then head to Sicily for 4 or 5 days OR to go Rome for 3 days and then Venice for 3 days, and fly home from Venice.
