Amalfi Coast Drive closed from Amalfi to Positano due to landslide???

Does anyone know anything about this? I had e-mailed Le Sireneuse where we are staying May 7th,for directions from Ravello. They replied that I should call the day before since the Drive from Amalfi to Positano had been closed due to a landslide. Has there been bad weather there? Wondering how long this will take to clean up etc? Thanks for your info or any source where I can find out more.

There was terrible rains the last day I was there just over a week ago. Doesn't surprise me! Just keep talking with the hotel. It is possible to get to ravello via the A3.

Yes, it is possible to get to Ravello on the A-3. The problem is that after leaving Ravello, our plan was to drive down to Amalfi and then on to Positano on the coast drive. Thank you for your information, and I will keep in touch with the hote. I guess if it is still closed, I will have to go back to the A-3 to Sorrento and then to Positano that way. Any other suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ira,
Thank you for that info. We will have a car - I'm assuming it is not a car ferry. I have a reservation in Positano which I cannot cancel at this point so the car has to get there also as we will be heading up to Tuscany by car after staying one night in Positano.

There is no problem with the road now,but problems occur when rain dislodges rocks and stones high up on the cliff edges rather than dramatic landslips. You should have no problems in May.

We were there last week, and as of April 22, the road was indeed closed, just past Positano on the road to Amalfi.
Various sources in town told us it would take until at least the end of April for the road to re-open.

There are still problems with the road but they hope to have them sorted out very soon and you may be forced to divert.

Thank you walk amalfi. I'm leaving the U.S. on 5/4 and will be in Ravello on 5/6 and planning on driving to Positano on 5/7. Could you possibly update me on 5/3? I would really appreciate it. Has the weather been rainy, what temperature?

Hi dac I will keep you informed but you will be ok by may. There has been quite a lot of rainy weather but yesterday was really good and today is ok.
