Amalfi Coast

A group of six of us are going to the Amalfi coast in September - of these four places - which would you stay and why???? we are very torn...have heard Sorrento or Positano is the place to stay.....so appreciate YOUR help. We had other choices, but went to book and they are all taken. We are open to other suggestions, as long as three bedrooms are available.

Sorrento - http://www.travelopo.com/property/2243246

**BEAUTIFUL - https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p6904025 - 53 steps, gorgeous views & from all bedrooms, Amalfi area(North)
**https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p1703411 bus stop at top of steps, “location & view gem”. 139 steps up to shops

Tip of peninsula:

Positano is lovely but personally I couldn't stay there for a long visit. How long are you staying? a few years ago we rented a house on the Amalfi coast and we were watched and the house robbed. Pretty sure it was an inside job....I know this could happen anywhere but just a heads up.

I would choose one that is actually in a village with transportation options, making getting around much easier.

I rent an apartment in Positano for a week or more each June, so that obviously would be my recommendation. But at this late date you will not have many choices.

Did you check with Summer in Italy?

Sorrento is not nearly as cute as Positano - on seaside but can't see the sea much from town high up above it - nice and utilitarian base from transport options - Pompeii, Naples, Ercolo, Cpari and Ischia and ascent of Mt Vesuvius all easier from Sorrento than Positano which is better situated obviously for Amalfi excursions.

I have thought more about this, and I wonder if your trip is more about being with friends, cooking, eating, relaxing, or touring the Amalfi Coast.

We've traveled with a group and found that the ambiance and comfort of the house were more important than its position. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms kept everyone happy, and the house and grounds were beautiful.
