Am I Booked Through Autoeurope or Avis

We booked a car for 1 week in Italy for June 2009. We have always used Autoeurope and been pleased with them. so called them again and booked our car. When we booked they told us to check back for any specials that might be happening and that we would be eligible for lower prices or upgrades etc.

DH called Autoeurope today to check on better offers or specials. He was told we weren't elegible for any offers because we were renting our car through Avis not Autoeurpe who is just a wholesaler. I don't understand how this is different than any other time we've rented through them.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Yes, I suggest you CALL AutoEurope's tool-free number and ask them 1-888-223-5555 (assuming you are calling from North America. that is).

Hi T,

You must have gotten a newbie at AE.

You are renting your car from Avis through AE.

If the rates have gone down, and they probably have because the USD has been rising, you can rebook without charge.

Call AE again.

Your contract is with AE---you are their customer.
The car supplier happens to be Avis--just that.

I have been renting through AE for over 25 years. For the past 5 years, I always call about a month before my trip to see if rate changes/discounts can be applied (which is what you did). About half the time, I have received discounts.

I agree withg Ira - call again.

What I did very recently, was to go back online to AutoEurope and punch in my rental details and see what the rate comes out to be. Well, the rate came out lower than the one I had originally booked at, so I called and have them change it to the lower rate. Very striaghtforward.
