Am I being over-hyper about getting hot breakfast and yummy cappucino in Italy on holiday?

Deepa, I totally understand why your room has to be messy on vacation. You have 2 kids...we had 3...When you get up in the morning on vacation, you don't want to be looking at dirty laundry and un-made beds...You want to get away from everyday life!
Not everyone feels this way, but for me, breakfast on vacation is the meal I look forward to the most!
We've been married 24 years now, and over the years, my husband and I have learned the ingredients of a successful vacation. Instead of compromising on everything and neither of us really getting anything we want, we discuss what is really important to each of us, and we plan a trip which includes that. So, I get my wonderful breakfasts in the garden, and he gets his native flora and fauna (he's a biologist), or whatever our hearts' desire. We each accept that we don't have to love what the other one loves, but we want each other to be happy.
Also now that the "kids" are 23, 18, and 19, we include their heart's desires as well, because we enjoy having them join us for family vacation!
Nobody gets all of their heart's desires, but we each get our 1 or 2 favorites. This is better than a trip where nobody gets anything they can be excited about.
So, Deepa, the answer to your question "Does anybody else feel strongly about their breakfast on holiday?" The answer is: "Yes! I DO! I do!"
So, for our Italy trip last year, I got Siena and my wonderful breakfasts at our B&Bs; my youngest daughter got to see the Egyptian section of the Vatican Museums and take a gondola ride in Venice; my husband got to climb Mt. Vesuvius and see Florence, my oldest daughter and my son got to see the Colosseum and Pompeii and to climb the church tower at St. Peter's.
Deepa, my travelling philosophy is it's better to arrange what you want in advance, than to come back from vacation and complain that you didn't get it!
Do write a nice note to this lady who runs the farm in Umbria...maybe it will still work out. If it still doesn't seem right, change to a different B&B that has the kind of breakfast experience you want, if it's important to you.

Thank you all for your replies. Melissa, especailly, thank you for making me feel better about the whole issue. I think the problem arose since we changed our dates. The lady had mentioned in March that she would provide the breakfast in the room and I called and told her that having a nice hot breakfast in a separate place (not our room that is) is quite important and she then agreed that she will provide that in the restaurant. However, after that we changed the plan to July, and she has now mentioned about the breakfast in the room thing again but we have already paid for the first 2 nights and so I think we will give it a try. If we are not happy with the place overall, we will consider changing.
However, I have requested for Cappucino and hope she will oblige.
The place is La Casette at the Pomurlovecchio farm. Anyone been there?
