Alternatives to calling for Last Supper reservations

I have been calling for the past two days trying to get Last Supper reservations for May 26th. I have called about five times and each time the line is busy. I have triple checked the phone number (011.39.02.89421146) so I am sure it is correct. Are there any alternatives to this number? Can I book on-line? I am afraid that I am never going to get through on that number!

Hi Dawn, I was coming online to post this exact question. I have also been calling for two days and getting that same busy! I am thinking of calling my hotel and asking them if they could make my reservations. Maybe someone will come up with another suggestion. Good luck and happy traveling!

I would try contacting your hotel. That's what I did last summer and my hotel (StarHotel Rosa) not only booked our tour of The Last Supper, but put us with an English speaking guide, which was great. I highly recommend a guided tour to get the most out of the experience. Not all tours have guides, so request one if you wish. My hotel indicated that they needed to make the reservations one week in advance of when you want to go. Buon viaggio!

Carole -

After continuing to try that phone number with no luck, I finally found a website that was happy to overcharge me for the tickets. I do not know if I have tickets yet, but I should be receiving an e-mail soon. The site is selectitaly.com and they charge $19.00 USD per person, which is more than double the price. It should be your last resort for this reason.

Dawn, too bad you couldn't see them. I wonder if they were wearing a mask! That's highway robbery. My impression was that the tickets were about $7 USD. I have emailed our hotel and awaiting a reply to see if they can get them for us. Good luck!

In October 1999, we saw the Last Supper without a reservation. There is a "hopefuls" line from which a few people at a time are allowed in on a space-available basis. We got in line at 5:00 p.m. and were inside within 30 minutes.

Rick,
Did you email or call? If you called, what telephone number did you use? I was under the impression you couldn't email them directly for tickets. Thanks.

Dawn: Did the same thing last year, couldn't get thru on the phone and decided to just "bite the bullet" on the cost. Used selectitaly.com with no problems. Regards, Walter

At the risk of being blashphemous... I was horribly disappointed in the Last Supper. I think Leonardo was an amazing inventor, not a painter. (I also thought the Mona Lisa was a bit of a much ado about nothing given it's huge line versus some of the great things in the Louvre with no lines).

Actually, Belinda, I enjoyed more Taddeo Gaddi's Last Supper at the Santa Croce Museum in Florence. It's older, in better condition and reportedly the Last Supper upon which all others (including daVinci's) are based. On the day we saw this fresco (October 1999), we were the only people in the room.

Well, I am happy to report I have my reservation to see "The Last Supper." I contacted my hotel and asked them to make the reservation for me. She made it but it was only available with an Italian guide. Then this wonderfully helpful "Fodorite" emailed me and told me he lived in Milan and he would be more than willing to help me out. I now have my reservation with an English guide. I am so looking forward to this and I would like to thank this person (I hesitate in using his name) for doing such a nice favor for someone he never met before. I do hope that we can connect in Milan to thank him. You do meet the nicest people on this forum. Three more days before we leave...... I am counting the hours. Thanks to you all for your comments and suggestions.

If you really, really want to get a reservation for the Last Supper, please send me an email and I'll exclude Paul in your favour.

Dawn,

I e-mailed my hotel in Bellagio and they made the reservations for us. I have no idea if there is a surcharge. But we have reservations. I just wanted to make sure we could get in. We will be there may 31, and they were able to get us in pretty easily.

Debby
