Alps Adventure

I wonder if might ask for your assistance. I am constantly researching and discovering new travel routes using public transportation in the three countries, Germany, Switzerland and Italy and wondered if you would suggest a few for my future travel plans.

I have visited western Europe probably over 35 times, both in my business career (I was employed by 3 different companies, headquartered in Europe) and with other personal travels. Recently, I noted a post for travel between Murren and Ortisei which contained a route which I never considered. I have also reviewed the post by Pal regarding Swssl Post Bus Routes.

I have about 2 weeks, flying in/out of MXP (Delta Miles) in September and am looking for further suggestions. I am not adverse to overnights in one location having recently travelled on 37 trains/buses in 17 days in France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. (Not for everyone.)

Thanks for your assistance and suggestions.

Well you take about as many trains as I did so check into a Eurail Select 3-country pass - Flexible or consecutive day - A Swiss Pass is great if traveling around Switzerland - if no traveling that much check out the Half-Fare card that gets half off everything that moves in Switzerland except cows.

Yes Swiss scenic trains are and all are covered by Swiss Travel Pass. - reservations only required on Glacier Express and Chocolate train I believe.

Lots on Swiss Trains check www.sbb.ch - www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com; www.swisstravelsysem.com.

Last fall, we spent a brief amount of time in Switzerland and Germany and then Austria, mostly via rail (bus to Dachau). Our trip report for the 8 nights: 3 Countries, 8 Places, 8 Nights, Awesome!

After that, we went on to Lake Orta in Italy, but we chose to fly from Munich to Milan.

For transportation within Switzerland, the sbb website is, IMO, utterly awesome. Play with it a bit!

I’m pretty sure you saw my trip report, but just in case:
