Alpine Adventure
* Planning mid summer 2021 family adventure; seven people 50-80 to recognize birthdays, anniversaries. Well-traveled folks; capable of long hikes. Have traveled together successfully.
* Where? Ideal might be alpine meadows, foothills, villages point to point or several hubs out and back. Switzerland?
* Duration 7- 10 days
* Limitation We have several who cannot tolerate walking anywhere you can fall off. Walking uphill not a problem. Near an edge would be a deal breaker.
* How can you help? Tell me about a similar adventure you might have had. How did you do it? What really worked? What would you avoid?
* Summary: We've ocean and river cruised together; spent Christmas week in Guinea, West Africa. walked half/transported half the Camino across northern Spain. The
Alpine meadow hike is a bucket list item. We hope that a year from now ( summer 2021) the world is in a better place. Your help would be deeply appreciated.

Given the ages, limitations and caveats I also recommend the Dolomites......Alpi di Siusi.
Castelrotto/Kastelruth is a great place to stay...https://www.seiser-alm.it/en/alpe-di-siusi/castelrotto/
With 7 days you could also do the Bernese Oberland...https://www.swissvistas.com/bernese-oberland.html.
The best place to stay there is in the Lauterbrunnen Valley...https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-us/...lauterbrunnen/
Figure 3 days in each.

Take a look at my trip report here "10 spectacular days in Dolomites, Italy", 10 spectacular days in Dolomites, Italy-late July and early August 2019 which I posted a few days ago. I visited South Tyrol in Italy and it sounds it is just like what you want. Alpe di Siusi e g has 450 km of hiking trails but it is just one among many such beautiful places.

We generally holiday in north Italy, Austria, south Germany or Switzerland, and never had a car. We like the mountains.
If you click on my name, you’ll find my trip reports, several with my over 80 year old parents.
Lots of gorgeous walking, and not difficult, with bus access, or cablecar.
A taste of the landscapes
Walk from Sulwald / Isenfluh
Near Ftan
Guarda to Ardez
Walk between Sils Maria and Maloja
Walk near Sesto
Walking between villages, near Sesto
Chestnut walk, from Velturno to Chiusa

"If you are not renting a car, it is unlikely that you will be leading your elderly people through any alpine meadows walking from a train station"
That may be true fro France (although even there are train stations in the middle of alpine meadows, like Vallorcine, Le Buet, Vaudagne, Col de Voza.....)
but certainly not for Switzerland, Aosta Valley and Tyrol (North and South) where you can go by train or bus to hundreds of panormamic mountain hiking trails, alpine peaks and mountain pastures.
