Alicante Spain

I would love to hear what Alicante, Spain is like? We are looking to spend a few months in Spain with our boys that are 10, 8 and 3. I have heard that lots of Europeans have moved there and it is not very typically Spanish at this point and that there is tons of english spoken everywhere. I have also heard that it is fantastic. What is Alicante like? Thanks!

What are you looking for in this stay, or is your work bringing you here? Will your children go to school? If you are free to choose there are many more atmospheric options. But if you are going for work or pre-arranged house, let us know.

Thank you for the response. We are somewhat free to choose but also limited for visa reasons. essentially, we can be anywhere for 3 months or in alicante for 6. i definitely don't want to be in a part of spain that doesn't feel like spain and there are tourists and english everywhere you turn. However, if there are neighboring towns or neighborhoods in the city that stand out as more local and are lively (don't shut down in the off season) that could be a potential option. Would love your opinion on all of this so please speak candidly. We have 8-9 months to travel and can either sit tight in one spot for awhile or move around. Our original plan was to be in one spot for six months, put the kids in school and settle in for awhile. Also, what are your thoughts on Santa Pola? How touristy is that town? THANKS!

Are you from the EU?
If not have you got or are you getting a visa for your stay? To put your kids into school you have to be registered at the town hall.

all the illegal immigrant kids are. I am sure there are private/ semi private schools that can give school space, if they have it, without the official papers and validating studies, etc.

I think a long visit to soultaveler's blog would be good.

www.soultraveler's3.com or the pots with WTNow as poster.
