Alhambra no longer offers audio guide

I visited the Alhambra this morning. I had planned to use an audio guide but was told that they are no longer available. I chose the audio guide option based in other travelers recommending it over a guide service. As a result I ended up wandering g and looking but not knowing what I was seeing. It was a fantastic site but a disappointing experience. Several staff said they would be back "maybe 2-3 months.

Be warned if you have a similar plan.

Believe the director of the place was arrested for skimming the profits from the guides. Too bad you didn't have a guidebook with you.

Good advice, although I don't see anywhere on their website or any ticket vendors website that they even say they have audioguides, so wouldn't have assumed it. If you don't pay for a guided tour, they have the option to download a guide when you buy a ticket.

I'm very sorry to hear that, particularly as I have been among those who noted that I found the audioguide sufficient for my purposes. But then, I always do a ton of advance research and have at least two guidebooks with me....

BTW: Were there no actual guides around when you were there? My recollection was that there were LOTS of guides hovering around the gates who one could hire individually, or with whom one could wait while s/he accumulated a group.

I was in the same situation in October and it was a real bummer! I didn't do any preparation because I read that the audio guide was adequate. We went back the next day for the Alhambra night visit and I read up on the Internet before we went. It really made a difference.
Lesson learned......
