Algarve honeymoon?

We are getting married early August and have had people suggest the Algarve as a honeymoon location. Has anyone been there for their honeymoon and would they suggest it?
Algarve, honeymoon and August? Dont' even think!

You may either change honeymoon dates (I think you don't accept this one) or then change destination. There are a lot of destinations in Portugal more convenient for honeymooners in August.
I think the general problem of visiting the Algarve in August is that it's EXTREMELY crowded...tourists EVERYWHERE...fighting for beach space... getting jostled by other tourists while you're walking on the street. If you like that sort of ambiance, then the Algarve is a beautiful spot. If you prefer less crowded areas, you might want to save it for another time. But definitely visit one day as it's very beautiful.

Thank-you for the advice. We'll keep it for next year.

A sure No to The Wonderful Algarve in August.
I was there for the month of November, a great touring month. July and August I would say are aweful there, so crowded.

We had a fabulous honeymoon in the Algarve in August, although you guys have already convinced Reena to go elsewhere. Am I mistaken or aren't all European beaches crowded in August? If you don't want crowds or beaches, I guess you guys should have told her to go Paris for a great time in August or if beaches are a must, head to the Carribean hurrican belt where no one else will be. The truth about Portugal in August is that the weather is great, the scenery is great, the beaches are beautiful and some are less crowded than others. When you don't speak the language and you're in a foreign country, the exoticism of the experience makes the other people dissipate, in other words, it didn't suck being there in August!

Edye: When you were in the Algarve where did you stay? I heard that the all-inclusives there are different than what they are in the carribean. And was it terribly expensive?
