I guess the idea is that anyone who knows where the "taskim" area is will know what country and what city you are talking about? Still, it's always nice to let us all know where you are talking about since your message appears to everyone browsing the entire Europe board.

Taksim is a neighborhood centered on an eponymous square in Istanbul. In Turkey. Asia Minor. Mediterranean. Eastern hemisphere. Earth. Solar System. West spiral arm, Milky Way galaxy. Local Group.
calliesgirl19 - if you put "Taksim" in your title (and spell it better), more people might answer.

But in defense of Robespierre those seem to be the answers that the poster is more in need of!
I've been to Istanbul, and that "taskim" didn't click at all to me.
If you click on the poster's name, you'll see her last post was 6 months ago and was equally vague with place names. That post never got a single response. Perhaps some of us are only trying to help her get better answers?
Meanwhile, Dukey, what did YOUR post contribute?

Dukey, when you make a statement such as "as usual you've got ALL the answers EXCEPT the one the OP was looking for," you have to back it up with examples. <u>Otherwise, you look like a moron.</u>
Click on my name and tell everyone the titles of threads that I didn't contribute positively to (except where I'm ragging flybob for cause). "As usual" should produce several instances on the first page, don't you agree?
Well?

calliesgirl, there is no Turkey board. There is only Europe board. That is what you need to know. That's why you have to put city (and country) on your title. NeoPatrick's first post says the same thing.

Calliesgirl, thanks for finally realizing that you don't understand how the board works which was my intention in suggesting how to make it work better for you. My statement that your message appears to all on the Europe board was made because I assume you didn't know that and this would help you in the future. To call a suggestion of how to correctly post as "arrogance" is kind of amazing to me as well.
I will accept the fact that you now understand the basic idea I was trying to make to you politely rather than saying "hey stupid, that's not how it's done" the same as an apology, although I realize you certainly don't mean it to be. Thanks for telling me to get a life. My life includes trying to be helpful -- I guess you don't consider than worthwhile. Good luck to you, even though you were totally nasty to me. I was not being nasty to you. Sorry you don't like help or suggestions.

Now, Neo -
Your initial post did NOT tell calliesgirl what she did wrong and how to do it right.
"I guess the idea is that anyone who knows where the "taskim" area is will know what country and what city you are talking about?" <b>[Well, yes, that would be true if it were spelled differently.]</b>
"Still, it's always nice to let us all know where you are talking about <b>[how?]</b> since your message appears to everyone browsing the entire Europe board. <b>[Why, and with what consequence?]</b>"
See what's missing?

Now, now kids!
Calliesgirl19: I knew what and where you were talking about. Our Daughter taught school for 2 years in Turkey. (LOVED IT), and we visited her there.(but yes, it was a very general title for your post...but I understand you really didn't know for sure )
Someone else mentoned the Shuttle from the airport to Taksim Sq.. but I wonder the shuttle stops...perhaps they stop at several hotels.
A taxi would really be the best, I would think, and I don't believe the airport is all that far that the cost would be terribly high. (almost everything in Turkey is less expensive that other countries ..or it was in the late 1980's). Taking a taxi would assure that you will taken right to your hotel.
I am sure you will love your trip to Turkey...the people are SO friendly, (ask directions and they will sometimes walk you the 3 blocks or so).,, they smile, are helpful. Istanbul and other area are beautiful, interesting....and I've never talked with anyone who didn't enjoy their trip to that lovely country.

Talk about a no win situation. In the past when I've gone into detail about how to correctly post, I get yelled at for being rude, wordy, and unwelcoming. So if I simply suggest that the problem with the post is that it isn't complete, I still get yelled at. Just as you did, Robespierre when you thought you were doing it right. See what I mean? You're damed if you do, and damned if you don't.
The real answer I guess is to never try to be helpful at all. The best intentions are still taken wrong.

And the original poster still didn't understand your point -- thinking you understood that her post was posted on a non-existent board. See what I mean? You're damed if you do, and damned if you don't.
