i’ve tried searching this and have not come up with anything current so am asking the forum. Need one night in September.

While not recent, we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott and the beds were very comfortable and they had free shuttle to the airport. I just looked at they have recently reopened after a renovation, so it is probably even better than it was several years ago.

We stayed at the Sheraton IN the airport a few years ago. No need to worry about a shuttle. Good restaurant.

Here's a list from Easy Charles de Gaulle. I don't know how up-to-date it is. Hotels at PARIS CHARLES de GAULLE (CDG) AIRPORT
Apart from the hotels on the airport grounds, the village of Roissy has a colony of brands. They are served by shuttles from Terminal 2. There's an Ibis and several other brands offered by Europe's biggest chain, Accor. Its home site lists them all. But be careful; the list includes Ibis locations near the convention centre which is a fair distance from the airport.
(As an aside: The official airport website used to contain this sort of information. Over the years it has been redesigned several time. Now it looks much prettier and is much harder to use.)

I'm also looking at Paris airport hotels, and I decided that it's important to get a hotel that's on or nearby the CDGVAL free shuttle between terminals. Many years ago I stayed at the Novotel, and I remember how quick and easy it was to just walk from the hotel to the shuttle (runs about every 10 minutes) and then onward to the terminal.

It shows which hotels are located near the CDGVAL stops. For myself, I've narrowed it down to either the Pullman or the Novotel, both around $150 on booking.com for my dates.

Easiest, as Stu says, is the Sheraton IN the airport. Haven't stayed there for years, but it certainly wasn't named the Shanghai anything when I last stayed there.

Well, there are a number of hotels IN the airport, as the map I linked shows. The only difference to the Sheraton is that it is at/near the RER B station, the TGV station, and Terminal 2.

The other hotels IN the airport are at or near the Terminal 3 CDGVAL stop.

For my case, since I would be flying out of T1, the hotels at the T3 CDGVAL stop are more convenient than the Sheraton.

For one night it was perfect and easy to get to/from CDG, not expensive either.

Many hotel shuttles are not too frequent and useless if you want to move to Paris anyway.
I prefer hotels along the RER line at places like Villepinte Parc des Expositions.

Thanks to all for chiming in. We will be flying out on Delta and pretty sure that is Terminal 2, so Sheraton may be best if rate is reasonable.

Terminal 2 is a large complex of many halls. Your departure gate is still ways away from the Sheraton.

It depends on what your threshold of "resonableness" is. I have used Sheraton CDG many time, but only when I fly into CDG from elsewhere in Europe and when I have to leave the next day from CDG. I can still visit Paris, but can easily use RER since I would be luggage free. I also get a corporate discount at Sheraton which helps with the higher end price.

If you stay in Paris instead of at CDG, you have many more choices of hotels of all kind of classes while able to have dinner in Paris instead at dreadful eateries at CDG.

We went to & from Brittany using Montparnasse Gare twice on our recent June/July trip, and stayed overnight near the Gare twice. We stayed at the Montparnasse Concord and the Montparnasse Mercure. The Concord was a real "downer" walking there and then walking to dinner through some very grungy areas. The Mercure was a little better - but costlier. A few years ago we stayed about a 20 min walk from the Gare at the very nice Aiglon. In June we had one of our best meals in France at the Michelin 1 star Cobea. We've dined at Dome 3-4 times - and it is wonderful also. We dine out in France about 30-40 times each year.


Our very early "custom" taxi to CDG was 60E.

I've actually stayed at several hotels at CDG: Hilton, Novotel, and Citizen M.

All of these are on the airport property. To get to them, you take the CDGVAL train, which runs every 3 or 4 minutes, and not a shuttle bus. I liked the Citizen M a lot -- very decent rates, comfortable and functional room, and a very good (and reasonably priced) restaurant.

The 3 hotels I listed are usually a lot less money than the Sheraton, and the difference in convenience is negligible. The hotels requiring a shuttle bus, on the other hand, are also less money but not nearly as convenient.

(Stu Dudley: I stayed at the Aiglon 30 years ago. I remember its wood floors, decent-sized rooms, and fine view of the Montparnasse Cemetery.)

Just to add my 2 cents - our group of 4 stayed at Citizen M - we are all 60+ - yes it was convenient (walked from airport train), yes it was a good price but we felt like ducks out of water. The lobby was very full of hip young people - I think we had 20 years on every one of them. And there was a plethora of technology - we are not tech idiots but it was just a bit much for us. Plus the room was quite small - the bed was against the wall so whoever was next to the wall had to climb over the other to use the toilet (in the middle of the night, as us oldsters often do). I'm sure many folks find it just fine, but if we need an overnight at CDG again, we will make another choice.

greg, we are two couples with different departure times our of CDG on Sunday, Sept 9. Our friends flight is at 9:25a so they are thinking an airport hotel is best. We exit at 1:50p so we are staying in Paris. We thought they could park their bags at our hotel, we have an early dinner, then they can cab or RER or shuttle to their airport hotel. The Sheraton Paris Airport Hotel & Conference Centre is only showing club floor available at 341E which includes breakfast. I think we are paying around 210E per night in Paris. Too bad we did not get on it sooner to snag a non-club level room.

About 11 years ago we had an early flight out of CDG, so opted to stay at one of the better hotels IN the airport. I can't recall now which hotel it was, but at the time there were not many choices. It wasn't economical, but we figured we'd be able to get to our check-in at 5:30 a.m. for a 7:30 a.m. flight - WRONG. The doors from the hotel lobby that directly accessed the terminal were closed until 6 a.m. for security reasons - we had to go out the other side of the hotel to the outside of the terminal and walk way around to the terminal entrance, a very long distance with our luggage.

I don't know if circumstances have changed since then regarding the opening of the hotels directly into the terminal, but I would check to be sure if you have an early flight. We would have been better off staying at a more reasonably priced hotel near the airport and taking a cab or a shuttle to the terminal.

If you use one of the outlying airport hotels that run shuttles to the terminals, it is always wise to ask about the schedule of the shuttles when you check in. There's nothing more infuriating that missing a shuttle by 5 minutes if they only run every half hour.

We thought the Citizen M unusual and alot of fun for our one night before departure. We took the covered walkway to our terminal the next morning, and liked all the techy toys in the room and amidst the lobby. Found it a refreshing change, the buffet dinner and breakfast were fast and tasty, and we werent the only 60+ in the hotel, not that we cared.
