Airlines - Continental?

We just flew on Continental to Europe last month. No complaints but nothing outstanding either. We flew coach and felt the usual squeeze but nothing drastic likes on some flights when we were squished in like sardines. I can't remember what size plane we were on, but I think it's the smallest I've ever flown to Europe on - 3 seats on each side of the aisle - A-F. Enjoy Italy.

Sara, Continental is pretty much like US Airways, American, Delta, etc., but still a step(s) above "Northworst".

The airline takes fairly good care of you and doesn't seem to cancel as many flights, at least, not in my experience. The DC10 is a large airplane and like the L-1011 or 747, it takes a long time to get everyone on and off, it's just too big. For a long flight, the Airbus A320 or A330 or even the Boeing 767 are better in that respect, but I'm sure it will be fine.

We took Czech Airlines/Continental back from Prague and when our connecting flight in Newark was cancelled, Continental put us up at the Sheraton and bought dinner and breakfast for four with no arguement.

Sara-- We flew Continental (DC-10 service) in coach to and from Italy in '98. Pleasant enough, and on time. Flew Continental to Paris in '99, in a new 777. Coach was a bit more comfortable in the 777, with individual video screens for movies and games. I think you'll be fine. My wife has flown in Continental's "BusinessFirst" service, which is quite nice.

In general, Continental is a quality airline (and One Pass, its FF program, may be the best). However, their planes to Europe are just as uncomfortable as the rest! The food is decent, and the individual screens for movies and games does help pass the time.
