Airline info into Kosovo

I am looking for info on airlines that fly to Pristina, Kosovo. I can't even find an airport code, and neither could the agent @ United. If anyone has flown there, could you help me out? Also, the price range of tickets would be helpful. Flying out of Washington Dulles. Thanks!

There are no commercial flights into Pristina and unlikely to be for the forseeable future. Your only way in by air is if you are UN or Journalist etc. At present State Department or FCO (UK) recommend avoiding Kosovo.
If you are determined to go the best route is probably via Macedonia or Albania going into Kosovo overland. You can fly from the US to Athens and go via Macedonia into Kosovo (coach from Athens to Skopje then Skopje to Pristina - time???). You could also get a connecting flight from Athens to Tirana (Albania) and go from there. I think the coach to Pristina from Tirana is about 24 hours (roads very poor). It is too dangerous if not impossible for US citizen to get into Kosovo from Serbia which would be the easiest route.
Hope this helps and that you can get travel insurance!

The airport code for Pristina is PRN

Ada Air flies from Zurich to Pristina and you need to contact them directly for reservations. Their airline code is ZY [this is out of Zurich]

Adria Air [the Slovenian national airline] flies there from Ljubljana. Tyrolean airlines [the Austrian Airlines "feeder"] flies into Pristina from Vienna. There may be others, but that's what a search at travelocity brought up.

Our sponsor for our soummer work in Pristina recommends flying into Skopje, Macedonia and hiring a taxi to Pristina.

To the best of my knowledge there is no problem getting into Kosovo from Macedonia or from the air. And American citizens no longer need a visa for Macedonia. Although if you plan to go on to Serbia you will need a Yugoslav visa. The new activity in the "buffer zone" in South Serbia bears watching, however. The area remains volatile and not completely under NATO's control.

On rereading bob's response I beg to differ on a few nore things.

Air service to Skopje is very reliable via many major European airlines including Swissair, British Airways and Lufthansa. There is no need to go in through Athens. Having said that -- the train trip to Skopje from Thessaloniki is beautiful, although the train coaches are in dismal condition. The Tirana option is a non-starter IMHO. The part of Albania the bus would need to go through is one of the worst for unlawful activity. I'm not even sure you CAN cross the border there into Kosovo. At this point Albania doesn't have a government that can control the countryside.
