Airfare to the UK

I am going to London end of December to beginning of January. Airfares are extremely high. Does anyone know of any site that I can go to that predicts airfare from NY to London? Are the current prices as good as it will get, or shoud I hold out for cheaper fares. The taxes on the tickets are unbelievable and with the current gas prices I am not sure when to ticket.

w/o knowing what fares you have found, where you are flying from, and your dates - it is really hard to give good advice

Have you tried kayak?

You could visit a lady with a scarf & big gold earrings who looks into a crystal ball - she would able give you just as logical an answer as anyone else.

Virgin Atlantic has lots of fares JFK-LHR late December to Jan for $552, including all taxes.

You're not searching right.

Thanks for your replies. I probably should have been more specifice. I am going from JFK to Heathrow and have been quoted prices from $508 - $755. Last year (same dates) I paid $321. I want to know if these prices seem reasonable or is it the norm for airlines to lower their prices in Aug/Sept for December travel.

Tax alone is $160. You will not see $321 fare during the holiday period. Later in the winter perhaps.

Book your $5xx tickets now. Won't go lower. And you're calling that "extremely high"?

part of the difference is the increase in the UK departure taxes since last year. $508 including taxes/fees would seem pretty good.
