looking at some fares for october (for a honeymoon) and they are astronimical. (close to $800 including all the taxes). this is about how much i paid to go to asia last year!

I guess it depends on where you are coming from. I live in Cleveland, and flying from here to Germany has typically run around that...November 1st is typically low period so I can fly for around $600 then or pay as much as $1200 in the summer time.

I would probably not wait too long, in case prices go up. I would think you would be safe waiting another few months, but checking them periodically.

If you will be making connecting flights within Europe, there are some great buys on local airlines. Sometimes you can buy seats for as little as $30 each way. You need to book them separately which means you'll need to recheck your baggage and book far in advance. Also, don't forget about the train. For some routes, it is very economical. Enjoy the trip.

well, actually, the fare I quoted above is from Philly to Venice, and out of Rome to Philly, also Nonstop- could do better with a layover

Early Oct is still hight season for Paris, $700 - 800 is about right.

Look for Autumn specials this Summer, you could save about $200 - 300.

Delta has a Summer sale NYC/Milan for $600 RT.

jubileefd, don't know your exact dates, but I plugged in a 9 October departure from JFK to Paris with an 18 October return on www.kayak.com and came up with several flights on Icelandaire for under $600 per person including all taxes.
