Greetings! We want to stay in an AIRBNB for a week in Paris when we go February 2015. I was curious if anyone knows if there are there particular neighborhoods that might be less money?

Neighborhood districts are called arrondissements, and the low numbers are in the center of the city. See here: http://www.parisnet.com/parismap.html So 1-8 will, generally speaking, be more expensive than 9-20. I, personally, prefer some of the outer areas and the city isn't so big, and has a good enough transport system, that it makes almost anywhere convenient.

Good points by MmePerdu. Maybe zoom in on the Airbnb map and get a place with high ratings at a good price that is close to the Metro or RER and fits in with your arriving and departing travel to boot.

Just curious...why are you limiting yourself to AirBnB rather than exploring other apartment rentals so you have more options on areas to stay.

What s your actual budget? Some outer arrondissements are absolutely fine. But neighborhood alone doesn't determine the cost of a flat. Size, amenities, elevators, etc. There are inexpensive but basic apartments in the very middle of Paris, and posh/expensive ones in some of the outer 12.

You don't want TOO cheap . . . because there will be a reason.

Let us know what you consider a price point you are comfortable with, as well as what you require in an apartment, and perhaps we can make suggestions.

Areas are (almost) always less expensive as you get away from the dead center of Paris. The most expensive for tourists is probably St Germain on the Left Bank and the 8th or 1st arr and the Marais on the Right Bank. The 16th and 7th are also pricey in certain parts, but you can find cheaper things in other parts.

It doesn't really matter, though, if you are searching listings, you can limit things to a certain price range anyway, so that will serve your purpose without having to designate only certain neigborhoods.

I agree with Christina about limiting your choices first by price. But there are so many listings in Paris, it also helps to narrow it down by using other criteria such as location and the size (number of bedrooms, if any). You can also put in the max price and then use the map to investigate various locations, as dfourh also mentioned. When you zoom in closely on an area, you'll get more listings in that part of town to look at. That can be very useful.
