Air France vs. United Business Class

If anyone has flown AF or UA Business class to Paris lately could you let me know how it was. Some of the links give AF better rating for Business Class. I've got enough miles to upgrade Y fare UA to Business, but I understand that even if they upgrade you it's NOT a guarantee that you stay business class or that they don't screw with the seating later. I usualy go coach, but this is a special trip and I'm willing to go the extra mile. Also any thoughts about a AM ( 9 - 11 am) flight vs a night ( 3:30 - 9:30 PM) flt?
Thanks

Where are you departing from? I loved the daytime flight from JFK last month. Got to Paris, ate, and went to sleep. Woke up feeling great the next day. But I don't know about any 9-11am flights from JFK.

I have flown several times to Europe in Business Class on UA using miles to upgrade. I have never had a problem either staying in business class or with my seat assignment. From the west coast we prefer the afternoon flight that gets in first thing in the morning. Haven't flown AF for many years since they stopped being part of the alliance with UA.

We flew AF Business class to Paris in January. The service was outstanding, and the food was quite good. Best of all, we had no delays coming or going!

You might check out the airlines category in the discussions where there are more posts on the topic; we've used Delta miles on both Delta BE and AF BE and they are pretty similar, though we liked how much quieter the AF flights are (fewer announcements, no duty free hawking, etc.). We usually get an evening flight going and a daytime flight coming (we go SFO to CDG; I will not go through JFK again if I can help it).
