Good. Yes, continuing on to Naples on another AF flight may well be problematic; the intraEurope flights are the hardest hit from what I read. Optimistically packing today.

Due to the potential loss of jobs as AF potentially shifts asset and financial resource to a new, low cost air carrier, and a general lack of assurances that such moves will not be taken by AF management, the pilots will take a vote on Saturday possibly to extend the strike through next week

Anyone traveling with Air France during the week of 22nd to the 27th of September should watch closely what actions are purposed and voted upon by the pilots union this Saturday.

Have also seen note that the strike may extend to the 29th.....not confirmed just rumored. We're planning to fly out on the 24th with a connection at CDG to Barcelona on the 25th. We called AF this morning (probably was handled by Delta?) and asked about changing to a Delta flight to ATL then connecting non-stop to BCN. The agent did say she too had heard rumors to extending the strike but that had not received any further info, anyhow, she said they could not change our flight unless the original was cancelled and we'd have to wait until the 23rd to see what transpires.

Well, optimism this morning for naught; our AF flight for Saturday was canceled this afternoon. After over two hours on the phone with Air France/Delta ( no two people knew the same thing, maddening), we were, in the end, repositioned on a Lufthansa flight to Munich, with a connection to Zagreb. Leave LA later, less connection time, arrive Zagreb earlier. Lufthansa was able to give us seat assignments too, and a window/aisle at this late date is a bonus.

Back to packing, we leave for LA. in the morning. I hope never to spend as much time as I have this week on the phone with ANY airline.

Just to add some information that might help others I thought I would share our experience today. We are currently in France and have a Bordeaux to Paris, Paris to LAX flight next Weds. (supposedly after the strike if it isn't extended) Since we bought the ticket on points with Alaska Airlines, we called them instead of Air France. They changed flights for us to another carrier without any charge due to the strike (usually it would cost $150 to change less than 60 days out).

We actually tried Air France first but got a recording that the phones were overloaded and to call back. So I just wanted to post this in case anyone is in the same situation. Alaska Airlines was a dream to deal with, so kudos to them!

We have reservations on Oct 1 Nashville-Detroit-CDG-TGV to Strasbourg. For those of you who travel frequently to France, how would you be feeling about this situation today, Sept. 23? A couple of people locally commented about how there are strikes frequently in France and this is no big deal. At this point, flying Air France again is low on my list.

To add insult to injury, the evening news talked about the heightened alert being issued regarding terrorist attacks to flights using an explosive device in a cell phone.

A bit of a stressful warmup to our 30th wedding anniversary trip!!!

We just returned from Strasbourg and had a wonderful lunch at Le Gavroche. If we had stayed in Strasbourg we would definitely return for dinner. My DH says the foie gras was the superior even though we dined at several Michelin 3 stars restaurants in Reims, Beaune and Lyon. He really wanted the same dish for dessert but too embarrassed to ask.

I am also anxious for information. My sister-in-law is flying from Nashville to meet me in Atlanta and then together on to CDG (booked with Delta but it is an AF codeshare) Oct 1.
She has not flown internationally before and a day or two ago I told her these strikes don't last that long. HA! I may have spoken too soon.
Now I am the one who needs reassurance.

Delta is not striking. But check now to see what is going on with your flight as rebooking is becoming quite difficult. Planes are packed everywhere. The strike is now indefinite. This is such a mess.

It seems the French pilots would rather be out of a cushy job, and take thousands of less well paid down with them, than take a pay cut.
Very French, but affecting the Dutch to a huge extent too.
I expect my BA flight next week to be full.

We were also on hold with Air France for two hours,tho it was Delta in the states. It was very frustrating, but ultimately we had seats. Is there an Air France office in Paris, which would be closer than the airport?

. don't hang up whatever you do.. good luck. it is getting harder for delta to rebook people with so many cancellations. when we were in CDG a couple days ago.. there were people there waiting 3 days to leave. good luck.
