rex - I had problem with the left-side column starting yesterday with one of my browser, but not another. That leads me to realize it's a Java problem.

Go to Sun Computer's java.com site to get the latest version installed on your computer.

That's strange, rkkwan, because when I entered a similar itinerary, JFK-CDG, CDG-LIS, LIS-JFK, I was able to get a rate of $639.78. I got a cheaper rate when I replaced LIS with MAD.

Looks like I'll be playing with my itinerary. Good to know I can do open jaws

mcnyc - In that case, play with the CDG-SVQ and SVQ-CDG flights. Maybe a particular fare-class is not available on certain flights the day you want.

Between the "dreary" comment by Robes...

...and info on another thread (on another internet website), which I cited here...

I am thinking that Romania is a no-go.

Maybe Naples. My wife has never been to Campania at all, and besides the whole goal is to add a note of contrast to Paris anyhow. Not exactly prime time for Sorrento/Amalfi, but probably no shortage of possibilities in a 200 mile radius. Or, just to change our usual stripes, maybe truly just stay all urban for once, and explore Naples the whole time (of course, we could also day trip Pompeii, or Caserta, or more by public transportation, huh?)

Europe without a car? This is really starting to be thinking outside the box, for me...

Thanks rkkwan, I will play around with the CDG-SQV flight. Booking an open jaw JFK-CDG-SQV, MAD-JFK is $1505 before taxes. Maybe a jaunt to Italy might be in the cards instead?

Rex, I'm sorry you've decided against Romania. I've been thinking of Naples myself instead of southern Spain. So many possibilities. Morrocco seems attractive as well!

Which are the real cities for this elusive $60 + tax flight that AF touts on the site?

Wish Greece was included...

NAP-(CDG)-IAD is gone for the return date I want, but open jaw (into NAP, back out of ROM) is still good. Not a bad fare for a three destination trip.

And likewise still available into SVQ, back out of MAD (on the dates I want), as you describe.

Still agonizing.

Hi all, I know I'm posting a little too late, but I with this deal I only paid $610 for a trip from NJ > Barcelona > Paris > JFK. MCNYC, I couldn't figure out how to do it online so I called Air France directly.

Thanks jademya77. I'll probably end up calling Air France to book the flight if it doesn't work online again.

I'm still on the fence. Since I couldn't get Seville to work out, I've been trying to decide on an alternate place for something from late Dec to early March.

It's worth mentioning that on the Fodors main page, there is an announcement stating that this promotion required ticketing by May 20 (today) - - but the Air France page says May 22. Same with the Alitalia page. Doing some poking around last night, the fare is much cheaper on Alitalia website itself than on Expedia or Travelcity.

IAD-MIL/MIL-NAP/NAP-(MIL)-IAD, for example, is cheaper on Alitalia than IAD-CDG/CDG-NAP/ROM-(CDG)-IAD is on Air France. Of course, one gets Paris as its stopover; the other gets Milan (and the Lakes).

I'm probably going to let this sale go as we are still trying to figure out what cities to visit from the vast list.

I have my heart set on Tunis, Madrid, Seville, Naples, Nice, Rome, Marrakesh and Zagreb.

And thanks to Rex, now that I know there's a similar sale on Alitalia. And I'm looking. Apparently, I am not as traumatized about last summer's severely delayed luggage (and lack of response) once the price is right.

rex - we visited Moscow and St. Petersburg in mid October several years ago. It was pretty chilly many days but clear and quite tolerable. We did not have snow, but it could happen that time of year. If you can adapt to Indy winters you should be fine.

Just a point of clarification - - "letting go" on the Air France sale also means letting go on the Alitalia sale. Both end Monday, May 22.

Thanks Rex. I didn't realize that about Alitalia's sale.

Must think faster!

I only wish the sale would include travel within France! What with the new "tourist tax," flight costs have gone from $90 for a RT Paris/Nice to nearly $150.

Well, it does, actually... The first eight cities on the list of 60 destinations are:

Nice, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Mulhouse, Metz and Strasbourg.

from the list provideed above, in the post by bardo1...

Okay... going for the "Mister Indecisive" award here (or maybe it' Mr. and Mrs. Indecisive)...

The Air France promotional fares don't seem to be available (at least not my first choice of dates, and as note above, it's a pain to search all the possibilities on AF).

But a fare on Alitalia has been on my radar screen for several days, and remains bettr in several ways - - but of course, it eliminates the Paris days. Instead, a stopover in Milan (I think we would elect to spend these at Lake Stresa), before going on to Naples.

Negative(s)? Gives up Paris; flies on Alitalia (is this a serious negative?) and can we earn FF miles on CO or DL?

Positive(s)? Stresa will be warmer than Paris? And I (likewise my wife) have never been there. But is it too far past the end of summer to enjoy optimlly? One country is (possibly?) a better trip than two countries (for such a short trip)?

Sale ends tomorrow.

Though the opportunity to plan a trip never ends...

Playing with the Alitalia site a little further (and for those of you still bargain hunting, this can be hundreds of dollars cheaper than Travelocity/Expedia/Orbitz), there is a same-priced option without the Milan stopover... that is... a week into/out of Naples only.

Advice-givers? BobTheNav?

You can earn CO Onepass miles on AZ. Caveat: some coach fares only earn 50% EQM.

http://www.continental.com/onepass/e...e/alitalia.asp

You can also earn DL Skymiles, except: E, F, G, P, R, S, U, or Z fares.

The rules on NW WorldPerks - - http://www.nwa.com/freqfly/earn/airfl.shtml#alitalia (all fare classes count but R) - - might be the best, but I can't figure out what fare class the tickets would be. Guess I'll have to call.

Rex, based on the fleeting mention that your wife would like more time in Paris, how would she like a full trip there, with no other cities (other than possible daytrips)?
