Air Croatia carry-on limits

I noted when we got our tickets that Air Croatia has a weight limit of 8 kg, or 17 lbs, for carry-ons. My carry-on weighs 7.5 lbs empty, and that's the lightest roll-on bag I've seen anywhere!

Since I have promised to behave this trip, DH and I are determined to only bring one carry-on each for a two week visit to Dubrovnik, Hvar and places accessible from both of them. Assuming we wear our sneakers, is it realistic to think that two mature adults who are very casual, but like to go to a nice restaurant now & again, can get away with 10 lbs each of belongings on this trip?

I assume that the airline is serious about this limit? Or (and I have my fingers crossed here) are they not?

Where are you flying from and to?

Checking bags in Zagreb and retrieving them in Dubrovnik was certainly no trouble. If you are traveling by public transportation, you are wise to keep it down to one bag, but what's the point of trying to carry it on on the plane if the weight restrition causes difficulties? These are not very big airports.

wow, ckwald, i'm glad you posted this.. i actually didnt think of checking the carryon weight restriction for Croatia Air. (i thought i remembered everything). My son and I will be traveling with only carryon as well. My son's pack has a removable section that he will keep essentials, and I will have a 'tote' for mine. That way if we have to gate check -- viola! still will have to pick up checked luggage, but at least less chance of them getting lost. That is always my fear. well.. it sounds good to me.

On Air Croatia, as with most airlines, male passengers are restricted to carrying on with the air hostesses, provided it is done in a seemly manner rather than a seamy manner.

Ackislander, we are traveling from the US to Frankfurt to Dubrovnik. The only part of traveling I DON'T like is wrestling with large bags, and waiting for them at large airports, with my fingers crossed. In this case the large airports will be Philadelphia & Frankfurt. Getting old(er) & testy, I guess.

Plus, we are staying in the historic part of Dubrovnik, so we will have to haul our bags for some distance from the gate over cobblestones to our apartment. It just seems a good idea to try to do it all with carry-ons, but I'm not sure we can, given the Air Croatia limit.

In your situation, rather than my usual rolling suitcase (which also weight 7.5 lbs), I'd go instead with a nylon duffel bag, which basically weighs nothing.
