Yes, Valderrama, the "Pebble Beach", "St. Andrews" of Spanish golf, is way up there with green fees, like one would expect. But there are many lovely courses all over.

Green fees are, however, much higher than in the USA. Also, the cart is usually never included, and quite expensive.

Most clubs insist you bring your official handicap card from abroad. Some require you to become federated.

You can get a complete list of the golf clubs in Andalucia by going to www.golf-andalucia.net.

Maybe Costa Ballena - www.ballenagolf.com or Jerez - www.sherrygolf.com

I don't golf but Costa Ballena is beautiful.

There's a Golf Resort in Matalascanas (west of the Donana) that has Golf 'Packages.' That's probably the Costa Ballena one that PJI mentioned.
BTW
I don't know where Costa Ballena came from. I thought that was still Costa de la luz.

You might want to check out the website www.dragon-golf.com We went to Costa del Sol several years ago and pre-booked some golf at a discount rates thru this site. There are alot of courses with varying fees, can't remember which ones my husband liked.

Part 2.....and the buzz about the official handicap - we were concerned about that ahead of time but it turned out to be nothing - he was never asked for it. Golf was a little pricier than expected (and that's when the exchange rate was better!) but it was not 200E.

Nedsireland, Costa Ballena is the name of the "community" where the golf course I was talking about is located. Its all still located on the Costa de la Luz though. I don't think it has anything to do with the place you mentioned. Its just a big vacation community just outside of Sanlucar that has a really nice looking golf course.
