Another tour company for transfers just to compare pricing: wwwtiberlimo.com. Last year they offered a free transfer from hotels in Rome back to FCO if you booked them roundtrip to/from Amalfi Coast. We were very happy with them!

Hi denisea - loving this thread as I am also one very willing to pay for ease and convenience when it comes to travel. I am also headed to Positano this May. Using ff miles to fly into London/Heathrow w/BA. Exactly as you, trying to determine best way to get from there to Positano without killing another day of travel. Did you make a final decision about transport from Rome? Very interested to hear if you decided to go with a private driver and if so, who you are using.

we will hire a driver from Rome to Positano. I have not booked it but will likely se tiberlimo. I will also check Rome Cabs, as we have used them before. If you could catch a train straight from FCO, I would be willing to take a train. Not willing to fly in, take a cab to catch a train and then another car service....sure fire way to ruin the start of a trip!

I highly recommend tiberlimo. I know it's expensive, but if you can possibly do it, you'll be happy with their service. The owner, Andrea Santucci, is reliable and very knowledgeable about everything Italian. You'll enjoy the ride if you can stay awake!

We made this trip last April. We flew from New Orleans to Atlanta, but there seemed to be regular and convenient Delta/Air France flights from Atlanta to Paris to Naples. The route was reversed going home. A private driver from www.transferrelax.com drove us from the Naples airport to our hotel in Positano for 90 euros. This is definitely the way to go.

I don't know why you would choose a 4-hour boooring car ride (been there, done that) over a 70 minute train ride to Naples, then a lovely 1.5 hour car ride to Positano. Or a 2-hour train ride to Salerno and an hour ferry ride to Positano.

Hmmmm ekc,
I almost always agree with you about the AC, but I politely disagree! We've done it a couple of times in just about three hours. If the OP can cope with the exorbitant price (!), door to door is the way to go. Much less stressful after a long flight.

Sorry. The correct link for the driver from Naples to Positano I referred to above is www.transferelax.com.

You got it WWK---I don't want to get into FCO, then get to Termini to catch a train to Naples, wait for the train, get to Naples and then another hour and a half car ride. Too much time/hassle after an 8 hour flight and with luggage. No thanks.

For those who really really want an expedient service, there are helicopter companies that whisk you from FCO to Sorrento in 80 minutes
Although I have not used it, there is also a more plebeian shared shuttle bus option connecting FCO to Positano .
