We have one day to spend in the Black Forest area of Germany. We are staying in Basel, Switzerland and plan to rent a car for the day.

I want to stop in the village of Oberharmersbach because that is where my family immigrated from.

From there we want to see as much of the Black Forest area as possible but don't know the best way to experience it. I have looked at several travel guides and what they recommend is a very long day. Two of the people in our group have health issues and can't do any strenuous hiking.
Does anyone have any recommendations for our day?

You can get a glimpse of how your ancestors lived at the Vogtsbauernhof open-air museum in Gutach. The walking is easy and flat. It's not far from Oberharmersbach.

That might be more than a day can handle.

I second the suggestion for the
Vogtsbauernhof in Gutach....a collection of old style German homes, farms, smokehouses, gristmills, etc.There is a cafe on site, next to a rushing stream, which serves a great Black Forest Cherry Cake.
There is an information sign at each stop- twirl it for French, German or English.
I would skip the Glass-blowing at Wolfach- I found it underwhelming. Hot, connected to a shop for sales.
Head instead to lovely Gengenbach, where I stayed for a week some years ago. Beautiful half-timbered house,

Nice town square and monastery/church.
Narrenmuseum in a tower, featuring Karneval costumes from 100s of years ago. The top offers fabulous views. Many nice cafes. May I suggest Flammkuchen, a type of regional 'pizza'...a crispy flat cracker bread with toppings such as cheese, ham and onions..mmmm!
The local wine is Hexen (witch motif), rose is popular.
St. Jakob's chapel above town us a nice hike through the vineyards!
