I will travelling to black forest with my husband and 10 year old. We will land in baden - baden and have only day in Germany.Need a itenary for 1 day in a manner I cover most of the interesting places in black forest. I will take the trip by public transport.. I don't like spas and baths. I was considering frieburg or Offenburg . Iam interested in buying cuckoo clock as well. So don't know what I should do. can some one give me a few options to choose from

Well, the Black Forest is a mountain range that stretches 150 km north-south and 40 km east-west. You will see only a glimpse.
If you are not interested in baths, forget Baden-Baden altogether. It has nothing else to offer and is not a Black Forest town.
Here are a few suggestions for one day:
Option 1:
- take the train to Gengenbach (from Baden-Baden 35 min) and visit this very picturesque town. They have a rafting museum, because from here the trees which had been cut in the Black Forest were shipped to the shipyards in the Netherlands.
- from Gengenbach, you take the train to the Vogtsbauernhof (26 min) which is a fine open-air museum with lots of typical Black Forest houses. They have animals, a mill etc. The train station on www.bahn.de is named "Gutach Freilichtmuseum". http://en.vogtsbauernhof.de/
- from the Vogtsbauernhof, you can take the bus to Triberg (33 min). In Triberg, you can visit several waterfalls. Also, it is the main production site of cuckoo clocks - there are several stores which have thousands of these clocks in display, some of the very intricate.
These three destinations will make a full day.

Option 2:
From Freiburg, take the scenic train (take a seat on the upper level on the right side) through the "Hell's Canyon" to Bärental (47 min). From there, take the bus (10 min) to the Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Black Forest. Ride the aerial tramway to the summit. Then you can hike around on the summit area, visit the bacon museum in the tower and enjoy the vistas. At the foot of the mountain, there are several adventures for kids.
On the way back, leave the train in Titisee, which is a lively Black Forest town, and either walk around the lake or ride a boat on the lake.
Back in Freiburg, walk through this quaint town and admire the gorgeous cathedral.
