advice for driving across Germany

Hello,

Next month I will drive my family from Berlin to Kaub where we will be at Burg Gutenfels for 4 nights. The route recommended to me is by A9, A4, A5; passing Leipzig, Jena, Glessen, Frankfurt... It appears to be a 7 hours + drive and any recommendations for a nice stop or two, including for lunch, would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Weimar is a great stop - - for an afternoon or an overnight, and is right on your way.

Best wishes,

Rex

Much appreciated, Rex. I'll mark it on the map. If you have any other general tips re. driving in Germany, I'm all eyes.

Would second Weimar and also add Eisenach. We also really enjoyed Alsfeld (known for 14th century overhanging timber houses), but that may be getting a little too far west on your route.
