Advice for 3 full days in Western Ireland in mid-October
I am flying into Shannon, arriving in the a.m. on Friday 10/20. Can anybody help with a light itinerary of siteseeing / driving trips for three full days. I am not one to suffer jetlag, so I should be able to spend most of Friday siteseeing.
I definitely want to stay in Galway for at least part of the time, and if there is enough to see relatively close to Galway city, I might spend the entire 3 nights there. I will also have a rental car for the trip so I will be pretty mobile and not be heavily reliant on Public Transport / Tours.
Any help is appreciated,
Chris

Galway is fine; but if it were me for an extended weekend, I think I would stay in Ennis and visit Lahinch, the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin and the Burren. We did that last year and made Galway a Saturday day trip. Ennis calls itself the Music Capital: it has Spring (late May) and Fall (November) music festivals. Cruise's Restaurant & Pub has Trad Irish music every night (best on weekends) and sometimes pickup sessions.
Sunday, after 11:00 AM Mass we had a Carvery lunch at the Queen's Hotel and then went next door to Cruise's. I told my Spanish wife that this was a religious thing for me. I was halfway through my first Pint of Guinness when musicians started coming in. They set up and started playing Trad Irish music and were still going around 4:00 PM when we left. This was an impromptu session that, at its peak had seven musicians playing.
In case you were wondering, my wife loved it!
