Advice for 2 week itinerary
Hello!
We are flying into Rome and out of Venice and are having a difficult time planning the # of days to spend in each spot.
Arrive Tuesday afternoon may 22 and leave morning june 4th.
We'd like to go: Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence, Hill towns, Venice
Any advice would be great!

You have 12 days (conservative estimate) and 5 cities/regions.
FIRST DRAFT:
May 22-25 Explore Rome
Afternoon May 25- Train to Florence
May 26-27 Explore Florence.
Afternoon May 27- Pick up rental car
May 27-June 1 explore Hill Towns and
Cinque Terre. Suggest to reasearch this portion to narrowed down a route; I would leave open hotels.
June 1 Drop the car at train station, Train on to Venice.
June 2-3 Explore Venice
June 4 Departure
What do you think? Again, this is a First Draft, go at it!!

With 13 nights, you could do:
Rome, 3
Cinque Terre, 2
Florence, 3
Hilltowns, 2
Venice, 3
Last May we did a similar 15 night itinerary, with three nights in Rome, Florence, Venice, Santa Margherita Ligure and Nice (France). I don't like to move any more often than that, but that's my own personal preference.
Have fun planning your trip.

My wife and I have had trips like yours, and we came to the conclusion that we were spending too much time on the road and not enough time seeing what we wanted to see. I suggest that you limit yourselves to Rome and Venice, or, at most, Rome, Venice, and Florence. The other places you mention are nice, but I don't think you have enough time to see them on this trip.

Hi N,
With 13 nights on a first visit, I suggest you limit your visit to Rome 5 nites, Florence 4 nites and Venice 4 nites.
From Rome you can visit Orvieto as a daytrip.
From Florence you can visit Siena as a daytrip. Also go up to Fiesole (no. 7 bus from SMN station 0:20 hr 1E) in the early afternoon, see the sights, watch the sun set over Florence.
Enjoy your visit.
