Acropolis scaffolding ....

Planning a trip to Greece in Sept or Oct -- a thread made reference to scaffolding around the Acropolis. Anyone know how much scaffolding there will be in Sept or Oct?

If there was a great deal of scaffolding when you saw the Acropolis, how did this effect your feelings when you saw this historic structure? Did this have a negative impact on your visit?

Appreciate your comments.

No, it didn't make a great difference to me because there is so much more to see there as well. The museum for instance and the other structures on the Acropolis.
The scaffolding is there for a reason so just go with the flow and appreciate all that Athens has to offer.

Visited Athens in 1995 and 1997 and saw scaffolding on my pics from both those years. I think it is under a constant state of 'repair'.

BTW, I think the structure is called the Parthenon. The Acropolis is the hill on which the Parthenon sits.

The "current" restoration works on the Acropolis actually started in 1975! It has been said that the scaffolding which is being used for cleaning and preserving the Parthenon will be removed by the time the Olympics start in August next year, but I think that remains to be seen.

Like the others have said, go anyway and don't let it spoil your visit. If you were as old as these structures, you might need a bit of scaffolding too!

Thx for the feedback. We were in St. Petersburg last year and there was lots of scaffolding as they prepared for this year's anniversary. And that didn't really bother us. So I'm now sure that scaffolding around the Parthenon won't be an issue either.

Again, thx for your interest and comments.
