Accommodations in Lake District

We are visiting our son and grandson who live in Rome in early June. We were planning to take the train to the lake district and stay there the week of June 16. Does anyone have websites/suggestions for apartment rentals, preferably at Lake Como? Many of the hotels are booked or are very expensive.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had good luck with homeaway.com. Also vrbo has some apartment listings in the lakes area. Also check slow travel.com Good luck!

We stayed at La Pergola lapergolabellagio.it a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. If you have a car it has parking and it's one of the few that does. We had a huge patio right over the lake. In the back of the hotel there are stairs that take you to town. There's a lot of stairs so you have to be in decent shape.

I also suggest you look at Residence La Limonera in Bellagio:

My friends are booked at La Limonera, but they have only confirmed their room and not ours. I am looking to find something close to La Limonera. Is La Pergola close?

Everything in Bellagio is relatively "close," but La Pergola is not convenient if you're traveling with a couple staying at La Limonera.

Try the Hotel Centrale Bellagio.

A week ago we stayed at Hotel Bellagio, in Bellagio. We had a delightful room with a balcony and view of the town and lake for 160 Euros a night.

Sorry. Meant to add the link:

Here are links to some apartments close to La Limonera. I don't have personal experience with any of these, but if you're getting desperate...

I think I am about to become to La Limonera what Ira is to Hotel Bonaparte.

I really can't stop singing its praises. It's affordable, comfortable, in a lovely setting, clean, the list goes on. Stay there, you won't be disappointed.

We just got back from our trip to Rome. We had a wonderful time at Lake Como. Thanks to those who replied to my query, especially bobthe navigator and Jean (for the website)who recommended La Limonera Apts. in Bellagio. gracie04- you are SO right about your praise of La Limonera. I couldn't say enough in praise of our apartment there. Our favorite restaurant while we were there was just a short distance from the apt.- Tratorrio San Giacomo.
