Accommodations in and around Baltimore

Hello there, I am planning a long weekend in Baltimore vicinity in the middle of September, preferably in Baltimore and am searching for something nice, walking distance to town(by boat if on Sherkin) and somewhat private. I have identified the Slipway B&B as a possibility, so was hoping someone could provide feedback or suggestions for others. As for info, I have been to Ireland and this area several times, but have never stayed overnight in Baltimore. Although I appreciate the personal touch of the B&B hosts, I'm not necessarily interested in hanging out with them, nor would I assume they with me. Anyways, something comfortable, quiet, clean and between 100-125euros per night. Can it be done.Ha Thanks

Your title reads "in and around Baltimore" so I'll respond. I spent a week at the Rathmore House about five years ago and enjoyed it but it is not walking distance to town. I also dined at Caseys of Baltimore on the main road into the village and the food was excellent and the Caseys friendly and eager to please. I would stay there if I return to Baltimore and if the price was competitive. Both places have lovely views from some of the rooms.

I read about the Slipway on Travel Advisor and it sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for. Since you're only staying for a long weekend, I'd give it a try.

I hope you report back, I enjoyed Baltimore very much and might return.

I spend a week in Baltimore in June each year and always stay at Fastnet House. It is a 30 second walk to the village square that overlooks the harbour and if you fall out the front door of the Algeirs Pub you are halfway home. Lovely people and a lovely home. Ron provides most of the music in the village. If you want more than Pub food one night try Rolfs. Five minute walk and a lovely dinner at a fair price. Have fun

John,

Fastnet House sounds very familiar to me. Who are the owners?

Ronnie and Sandra Carthy. Nice people who will not bother you if you like. You can link to their website from the Baltimore website. Rathmore House and Casey's are nice but you have to get in your car and make a short drive to the village. Have fun

I forgot to add that there are several B&B's on Sherkin that are a short walk to the quay and the two Pubs. Take a look at Horseshoe cottage, again linked off the Baltimore Website. Have fun

Thank you for the input. Sadly, Slipway will be closed for the month of September. I will look at Fastnet and on Sherkin as I prefer to walk to town, and stagger home.Ha
