Aarhus cruise stop: town on own or Rosenholm Castle?

Hi, would you take the ship's shore excursion to Rosenholm Castle and Gammet Estrop a drive away or explore Aarhus on your own? We only have 8a-6p and the tour goes from 9a-2p which would leave a bit of time for walking around. We have spent a week in Denmark on our own about 20 years ago. thanks much for your insights.

Rosenholm is a fair bit dull, pretty enough but meh. Gammet Estrop????, though Denmark is generally a very low key calm sort of place to visit

I'd go to Aarhus

Thanks bilboburgler. I does seem like there's a lot of interesting things to see in Aarhus.

A visit to the skansen is worthwhile, as is a visit to the modern art museum, if only for the architecture and the view over the city:

and if you want to push it, there is Moesgaard Museum:

My choice would be the skansen in the morning with lunch on the grounds (there is a large restaurant in one of the buildings) and then either the Modern Art museum or the Moesgaard in the afternoon. The latter is somewhat out of town, so that it probably precludes a stroll through Aarhus itself.

Thanks Michael...the Moelsgard does seem interesting but may take too much time to get to.
