A Paris Restaurant Mystery - Georges? Chez Georges?

The last time we were in Paris we stayed on Ile St. Louis. One evening we walked across a bridge (I can't remember which one) towards the right bank. I believe we then walked towards the Louvre. I remember seeing a really old French restaurant set back from the street (in my mind I remember it was a small building by itself and trees). Behind it was a pedestrian only shopping street or square. I have looked on maps, I have looked in books, and I can't find it. It definitely wasn't Georges in the modern art museum, and from looking at the pictures on pages junes it doesn't seem to be Chez Georges which is not even in the same area.

Perhaps I have the name wrong. It was definitely a very old fashioned restaurant. Anyone have a clue? Thanks.

I think I found it on pages jaunes. See if this link will work for you. It isn't exactly as I remembered, but there definitely is a little shopping street behind it. You cannot see the name of the Restaurant:

This is just over the bridge Pt. Louis Philippe from Ile St. Louis and it looks like the little shopping street is Rue Barres.

Hi Ronda,

The name Georges probably sticks in your mind because you crossed the Voie Georges Pompidou.

You might be able to refresh your memory if you go to www.mappy.com and enter Rue des Barres.

You can also search for "restaurant" on these streets to see what comes up.

Well, that didn't work. I don't know where that happy face came from in themiddle of the link. The address is: 62 rue de l'Hotel De Ville

Go to http://photos.pagesjaunes.fr and put in the address if you wish to see the restaurant.

Well, appears Jody is right : Chez Julien. I know there is another Julien restaurant in the St. Denis area. My husband wanted to go there but we didn't make it so I must have gotten my word association confused in my memory - I was trying to remember it by associating Georges but actually it was Julien. Thanks to all.

Should have told you that first I googled the address which lead me to a FODORS post. So did a search here on the address and came up with several threads in which Chez Julien was mentioned. And recommended.
