A meeting place at Gatwick?

Hi again --

More questions. Answers appreciated! I will be flying into Heathrow I believe (at least that's where it looks like at the moment) and I will need to meet my parents at Gatwick (I get in at 11 am and they get in at 11:30). Can you experienced people out there give me some sort of idea how long it will take me to clear customs and get to Gatwick? And while you're at it, how will I get from Heathrow to Gatwick come to think of it? And last but not least, is there a place (easy to find for a frightened American in a foreign country!!) in Gatwick that would make a good meeting spot to locate the parental units without too much hassle? Thank you so much all!

Kimberly

re: time it takes to get from LHR to Gatwick I would say about 2 hours dependent on how you do it. (loads of threads on this I am sure on this forum).

In terms of where to meet - why don't you meet at the Car Rental desks. Just make sure you get the right terminal (North or South at Gatwick).

Where is your final destination?

Best way to get from Heathrow to Gatwick is by bus, however I can't see the point in you schlepping all the way down to Gatwick to meet your parents, only to turn round and head back to London (I still don't know why they call it London Gatwick, it's two counties away)

If you will be ending up in London,
I suggest you all meet up at Victoria train station, as they can come in from the Tube (Picadilly line in from Heathrow, change at South Kensington to District and Circle Line for Victoria. You can get a direct train from Gatwick.

There is a food-hall above the station (take the stairs up by W H Smith)...you could meet at McDogburgers...
Spoon,

In another post ("train strain"), Kimberly states that her party will be travelling onward to Sherborne from Gatwick. From what I can see on thetrainline.com, leaving from Gatwick makes sense.

Perhaps you can give her some more info re: train travel on that post - haven't done any domestic intercity train travel in the UK myself.

Andre
