A little Vatican help?
My family and I are going to be in Rome in June, and on a Wednesday at that. We'd like to visit the Vatican and see the Pope, since we know he take audience on that day.

Would anyone know how to get tickets on short notice? We leave on June 12th, but won't be at the Vatican until later in the month. Does the Vatican have a Web site?
Thank you both for your quick replies. I found "Ed and Julie's" site right away from AltaVista.

Ed, would you know another way to get tickets to a papal audience besides the 'American Parish in Rome'. Their site is informational, but I can't seem to order my tickets from their form and get an error message when I send it. Any clues on this papal mystery?

On our recent visit we were advised to pick up our tickets to the audience on the previous day Tuesday, after 2pm. We waited in a very long line just to pick them up. However, there were some Jubileo volunteers that were simply GIVING THE TICKETS AWAY to anyone that wanted them. (We had a letter from the Vatican through our parish priest), so we had the pleasure of waiting. The key here is to be at the line early. Good luck if you try this method.

Hi, Ernie-

On the same page (romevatican.htm) I believe you'll find a phone number, fax number and e-mail address for the US Bishop's Office.

Ed

I wrote to the Bishop's Office in Boston requesting papal audicence tickets for June 21st and they sent a request to: Reveverend Monsignor Roger C. Roensch, Director, Bishops Office for U.S. Visitors to the Vatican, North American College, Casa Santa Maria Via dell'Umilta 30, 00187 Rome, Italy.
Phone: 011-39-06-69-99-11
Fax: 011-39-06-679-1448. I have been asked to contact the above on arrival.

Perhaps you could call the above number to see if they will reserve tickets for you. Good luck! M
