A good Paris Hotel under $100 -- you betcha!!!!

We were quite intimadated/worried by our first trip to Paris....Info found here gave us confidence...and hotels, also found via the net, proved to be great values (far better than price-y london). I'm happy to provide recommendations on two very, very pleasant hotels we just stayed at (at just under, and just over $100, that we originaly located on the net)... E-mail me for details if you are interested.

Last summer, My wife, son and I had to stay in the Ibiz Hotel (Orly Airport, 3 stars) due to a flight delay. It was reasonable, friendly, clean and suitable. To my amazement I paid Fr 450 ($75) for the night (I paid Fr550 for a much worse hotel in Paris). I understand they are a big chain all over Europe. I am planning to use them this summer. Another chain that claims they charge flat $60 around Europe is Minotel which I found on the Web. I will post my finiding about this chain when I get back.

Raeona,

I'd love to know the names of the two hotels, as well as your opinion on both. My boyfriend and I are going to Paris the first two weeks of October 1998 and would like to find an inexpensive hotel with a bath/shower in the room. Any assistanc you could privide would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Kim Byrd
[email protected]

I tried to e-mail you directly but the message didn't go because it said your e-mail address was incorrect. Can you please send me the information you have on these hotels? Thanks.

Hello all... Paris probably has more good hotel rooms for reasonable prices than any other city in the world. Fodor's and Frommer's guide books list several. Also, there are two other excellent books:
Cheap Sleeps in Paris, by Sandra Gustafson and An Insider's Guide to French Hotels $50-$100 a Night for Two, by Margo Classe. Be sure to look at the latest editions. You will find some hotels mentioned in all of these guides. We have stayed in some of them and have been very pleased.Good luck.

Apologies to those of you who tried to get thru to us directly and couldn't. A bad modem and then a server that got fried made for big-time problems. Our hotels....both very pleasant were Grand Hotel des Balcons and Hotel STe. Christophe...one just under and one just over $100.....I was so very pleasantly surprised at the value one gets in Paris for a $100 hotel room...and also to find that the value, overall, versus the dollar, is a better deal than London!
