A French language question

I need to phone a French vet to fix an appointment to get the flannerpooch checked

Do I really say "je voudrais fixer un rendez vous"? It sounds - well a bit personal for a quick tick-hunting session.

You can say that, or "Je voudrais prendre rendez-vous pour..."

Not personal at all - if it's the term rendez-vous you are referring to, it really does just mean appointment.

Besides, tick-hunting is a bit personal.

"Je voudrais prendre rendez-vous pour..."
There is a world of possible combinations to end the sentence... For some unspecified reason I suddenly remembered Fraçoise Hardy's song.
