Florence is IN Tuscany, so I guess I'll assume you mean you want to do a bit of rambling around the surrounding countryside. I think if you do some searching on this site and some basic research in guidebooks and on the Web, you'll see that there is a fairly good network of public buses that ply the main towns of Tuscany. If you want a guided tour, can't help with that. And of course if you really want to wander around the countryside, a car is indispensable.

www.verrazzano.com/ There is info on their website of how to get there by public transportation. It was the good part of a day and well worth it. There are many reviews on tripadvisor.com

CAF operates tours out of Florence. Here's a day-trip by bus to Siena, San Gimignano and a drive through Chianti. It's quick but painless.
