Wait, you're going to make a daytrip from Barcelona to Paris? How are you traveling? Flying into CDG (is that what you meant by CDC?)? If it really is just a day trip, it's unreasonable.

There are probably some Seine "boat day trips," but what most people do is take the 1-hour Seine cruise. It's not a day trip.

But before you figure out how to get a quick overview of the city, what, exactly are you contemplating? Whether you fly or take a train, it's not a daytrip from Barcelona. Do you have a map?

Your young friends are just that, young and silly. I'd suggest that once they get to Barcelona, they fly to Paris straightaway and spend some days there. They'll enjoy it more than BCN. Too bad their tickets are into and out of BCN, but so it goes. A plenalty of being young and not thinking ahead.

I loved Barcelona and I like Paris, but I would not take a day trip from one to the other - if your friends are American, tell them this is like taking a day trip from DC to Atlanta or San Francisco to Portland.

Good advice here. It's foolish to day trip to Paris from Barcelona. Just don't do it. I'd say a first trip to Paris deserves a one week minimum.
