Marianna, I also work at a school. I had the week off between Christmas & New Year's, plus of course New Year's Day. Of course, longer would always be nicer, but it's long enough! Especially if you go and stay in just one place.

SusanP -- thank you so much for this report.. i'm glad you had such a good trip, even with the trials and tribs. My fave part was when you found the Rome bus ticket! a good reminder just when you needed it! O
