Even skipping Mt. Etna and Taormina, 9 to 10 days is not much for magnificent Sicily, so you will have to be selective. Unfortunately, none of us can tell you what to skip and what to visit. I strongly urge you to get a copy of the Michelin Green Guide or maybe another really good guide book (e.g., the Rough Guide. You might also find value in reading some of the planning threads for Sicily on this board -- many people have faced a similar dilemma and have received a lot of helpful advice to help them narrow their choices.

Good food is not a problem in Sicily. ;-)

Hope that helps!

You may want to take a look at my trip report with a reduced 9 day trip in Sicily; click on my name to find it.

We were satisfied with our lodgings; but that is not on top of my list when it comes to travel as long as the lodgings meet a basic standard (that's why I generally post prices). We liked what we saw in our visits, so would recommend going to those areas.
