At least Swiss hotels are famous for their hearty all-you-can-eat breakfast buffets - worth a princely sum in expensive Switzerland - fill up for the day (but do not do like Rick Steves once said - stock up for later in the day from the breakfast buffet!)

Hi guys. hanks for your help
Made reservations at Eiger, Murren for couple of days. Thereafter plan to travel to Montreux from Interlaken talking the GoldenPass. Tried making seat reservations at http://tickets.goldenpass.ch/ but they are cgarging for the same (although nominal 10 CHF), but I thought using the Swiss pass no extra reservation charges are required.
Can you please advice if I should go ahead with the reservations or try my luck getting the seats and keep the trip flexible.
Also i will be traveling from Lucerne to Interlaken, should I make reservation in GPass for the same too?
Thanks a lot

Hi again,
Reservations are always extra. Yes, your Swiss Pass will get you travel from point A to point B, but it won't guarantee you a seat.
Normally I would say to forget about reservations, as they aren't required, and you're very likely to have no trouble finding a seat on the GP.
However, since you're travelling in July, which is high season, and since the Jazz Fest is gearing up . . . I think the GP may be super crowded. I would go ahead and spring for reservations.

Well I think if you want to reserve seats that possibly you can change them for nothing or a minor fee and the Golden Pass is not nearly so popular with tour groups as is the Bernina Express or Glacier Express, which do book up a lot of the time IME.

Well, the GP may not be *as* popular with tour groups as the Bernina or Glacier Expresses -- but I've been standing without a seat when riding it in August. It is super, super popular in the summer months.
I know you are travelling in July, not August, but I think it would still be a good idea to get reservations. Adding the Jazz Fest to the summer time travel, I think the GP will be quite full. Reservations don't cost much.

Since reservations don't cost much yes get them and then if want to change pay another 10 francs if you cannot change without penalty.
Or pay an upgrade for first class which should I think rarely be full.
