Just a note to say we stayed at the Marriott Rive Gauche in October and found the experience just lovely. We also used points, but paid the extra money to upgrade to the concierge floor. It was well worth it for us. We're not party animals and found there were a couple of nights after LONG rainy days when we just wanted to get back to the hotel and have "dinner" in the concierge area. It was really good, too.
We chose to leave the Rive Gauche about noon, taxi to a hotel at the airport, then take the train back into Paris for the rest of the day, getting back to the airport hotel about 9. Our flight was very early, 7:05 I think, and we weren't comfortable risking being late. I think really it is a toss-up, but we had a family member having surgery and wanted to be sure we didn't miss the flight and not be home for that.
Have a great time.

Challiman,

Thanks for the review.

I have stayed here several times. I don't expect to have to pay for the upgrade as I am Platinum with Marriott and should receive access anyway. However, I have a track record. EVERY time I stay here the lounge is closed for renovation! Maybe I will get lucky this time (They did give me free breakfast every day and a free drink every evening so I really can't complain!)

Dukey Said:
<<Option 3..spend the night with someone else..after all, it IS Paris.

Get THEM to drive you to the airport.>>

LOL @ Dukey.

How funny, as I was reading thru the posts, I was thinking of something similar.

My last trip to Paris was 24 days. Just like any other of my Paris trips, I am lucky to make it to the airport on time. I am in the “milk it until the last minute” crowd. It isnt so much about partying in Paris, but just kicking back in Paris at any hour of the day or night is so much different than home… even if it is something we might feel is mundane at home.

Have much fun!!!

Carol, we are also Platinum but had to pay the extra. We didn't have many points left, so that could have been the problem. They're still listing us as Platinum, though, even though we depleted our points badly. Hope we didn't pay for something we were already entitled to. Hmmmm, will check on that.

Challiman,

I would check! Technically you are suppose to get the upgrade even on a free stay! Points don't matter. I have gotten the lounge access on all my free stays. Now if you got a concerige level room that might be an "upgrade" you had to pay for?

If you have had enough time to squeeze all of the juice out of Paris, I see nothing wrong with staying at the airport the last night.
