6 hour layover at Charles DeGaulle airport

I have a 6 hour layover at Charles DeGaulle airport on a Sunday. Landing at 8 am and leaving at 2:00PM. Is it enough time to leave the airport and take the train in to see some of Paris?

no, you'd have only about an hour and that's if you are lucky. If that doesn't bother you and you are really good with public transportation options, following signs, etc (which many people are not, they've never even been on an underground rail system), and researching in advance what to expect and kinds of tickets-- it's your call.

So I gather you have nothing that concerns you about carrying around with you? Most people who check bags have some kind of totebag or backpack or whatever that is large enough that they don't want to lug it arond with them. But if you don't, great. Let's say you get out of CDG in about an hour, figure out how to get to the RER, buy tickets, etc., and you get into central Paris an hour later. You will have to be back at the airport at least 2 hrs before your flight, won't you? So leave an hour for transportation and that gives you one hour in Paris, 10-11 am. Your call.

One of the new terminals at CDG is quite nice and is a good place to kill several hours. I can't recall which one, however.

I would never consider going into Paris & back. Quickest way would be a taxi to & from (some risk getting a taxi back to CDG). That would cost you around 110E, and consume 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. Budget 2 hrs to account for taxi "wait" time. You would need to get back to CDG 2 1/2 hrs before your flight to play it "safe" - so like Christina indicated - you have about 1 1/2 hrs to enjoy Paris with perhaps some anxiety & stress worrying that something could go wrong.

You might consider going to Senlis for an hour or so. It is a nice town about 15 miles from CDG. But really, I'd stay at the airport.

Thursday at noon it took us an hour and a half to get through passport control. Plus the time it took to get to the gate and security. As St.Cirq said, don't tempt fate.

Stu, you may be thinking of Terminal 2E. It's very nice with lots of shops and very comfortable lounges and chairs.
