Bringing this back from the dead, I have a quick followup question.

Looks like our Olympic Air flight has been rescheduled to get us into Athens at 11:15AM instead of 7:55AM. I can either cancel the flight and rebook on Aegean Air for about 60 Euros more for 2pax or I can just roll with it.

Do the experts here think losing that 1/2 day or so will be a major issue given what we are looking to accomplish (which is Cornith and Nemia on the day we arrive and Epidaurus and Mycenae on Day #2 with our first two nights in Nafplion).

I think the rest of the 6 days/5 nights will remain unchanged with night #3 in Kalamata, night #4 in Olympia and night #5 in Delphi.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

It disturbed me when you first put up that schedule that it seemingly allowed NO time to even walk around Nafplion itself, the most beautiful Old Town in Greece ... and now there is even LESS time. And yet u are spending 3 full days on hugely-touricized, cruise-ship crowdy Santorini. Sigh.

In my opinion, spend an additional 1/2 day in Nafpion-- criminally short time but a taste for a future re-visit, and bump everything back accordingly.. you might have to anyway, since in May the Museums of the last 2 sites may close at 3 pm. anyway.

This recalibration woud put arrival at Olympia mid-day Day 5 ... go to Museum first, THEN out to grounds.. IMHO, Museum is more impressive than grounds; whole thing can be done in 3 hours .. Then drive to Delphi get there by dinner time, see Delphi in the MORNING of day 6 & then head to athens in afternoon.

Hi Travelerjan,

We are actually only spending 2 nights/ 1 full day in Santorini, ariving by Ferry on day 1 @ 11AM and departing on day 3 at 10:30am if we keep the newer flight (original plan was 7am departure). Thus we are there for under 48 hours total. Not sure why you had the impression we were spending 3 days there. We are also spending a 5 days in Crete and 3 in Athens along with this additional time in the mainland, so I would hope that 48 hours in Santorini in an indulgence that might be allowed

Regarding Nafplion, we will be spending 2 nights in the city. Though we will be traveling outide the city each day, I am sure we will find plenty of time to walk around the town itself on each of the three days we will be there and all in all it will be much greater than 1/2 in the city.

Back to my original query: Any thoughts on the impact our later arrival on Day #1? Should I go ahead and cancel the flight on Olympic Air and rebook on Aegaen to arrive prior to 8am rather than 11:15 OR we have enough time on Day #1/Day #2 even with the later arrival?

Thanks.

Just a quick bump to see if I can get some input before I decide whether to cancel the Olympic flight and rebook. Any help folks? Thanks!

So you dont have read the whole thread the question is:
Our Olympic Air flight has been rescheduled to get us into Athens at 11:15AM instead of 7:55AM. I can either cancel the flight and rebook on Aegean Air for about 66 Euros more for 2pax or I can just roll with it.

Do the experts here think losing that 1/2 day or so will be a major issue given what we are looking to accomplish (which is Cornith and Nemia on the day we arrive and Epidaurus, Tiryns and Mycenae on Day #2 with our first two nights in Nafplion).

Hi Jersey, just to clarify, your post on Jan 31 says that you are spending 3 nights on Santorini, that's why Travelerjan made her comments.

I'm so envious; we have spent a little bit of time in Greece and absolutely loved it!

Make sure you go to the theatre at Epidaurus. The accoustics are amazing. We climbed to the last row of the theatre and from there my husband and a young man on the stage took turns reciting some dialogue from Othello. Everyone could hear them and they were just speaking in their normal speaking voices.

Good morning Jersey ... listen, just decide on your own. IMHO, from what we hear about Olympic transition problems these days something would go awry with a cancellation request-- and do you even have a ticket that permits a refund? AND it's Easter week! You won't get action OR hear anything from anybody for days. Leave it alone ...

I would email Olympic regarding the cancellation and also contest the charge through the credit card company. Since the schedule shift is more than 3 hours and they cannot put me on an alternative flight (one does not exist) the folks at the dispute department tell me that getting a refund shouldnt be an issue.

The money though is less of an issue than the time. I dont want to shortchange the time we have on the mainland.

Since no one has an opinion whether losing the 1/2 day will be a major issue I guess I will "just decide on my own"
Thanks.
