My husband and I are planning our honeymoon for two weeks in the middle of May. We plan to spend the first week in Italy (Florence) and want to visit Switzerland for the second week. Any suggestions for places we shouldn't miss? Thanks in advance.

It would help to know what you like to do and what your interests are. The Swiss Alps are gorgeous with plenty of hiking. I would avid Interlaken unless you want to experience a frat party atmosphere. Get up into the mountains to small towns such as Grindelwald, Murren and Gimmelwald. Stunning scenery! Lucenre is very nice as well. you could rent bikes and ride around part of the lake and then catch a ferry back to Lucerne.

Sorry - I should have been more specific. We're not the 'outdoorsy' type, so while we would enjoy some short walks, I don't think that we're planning on a lot of hiking and biking, and we're definitely not into the party scene. We think we might spend a couple of days in Como, but don't know where to go from there.

I assume you mean this May--or perhaps 2005. If this year, you are already very late to book anything. And, your question depends on where you will depart Europe. If Zurich, then I would do Lugano and Luzern. Sorry, we really need to know much more to answer well.

I think if I were you I'd stay somewhere in Montreux or Vevey. From there you can take lots of wonderful day trips to mountain views, boat rides to lovely lakeside villages, strolls along the promenade. Very very romantic.

Hi MrsR. I'd split the week between Montreux on Lac Leman(with the Lavaux vineyards, Chillon, and trips into the hills to Gruyeres, Chateau d'Oex) and Lucerne on its spectacular blue-green lake with mountain views. Maybe you can fly home from Zurich? (Hi Grasshopper) J.

Would consider Luzern, it is a large enouogh city to have a variety of things to do. Your have three major
peaks to ascent, Rigi, Pilatus and Titlis, as well as the Lake Lucerne, its boats and cities along its shores.
In Luzern you have an excellant shopping district, the old town and area south of the Riber, The Swiss Transport Museum, and various museums. You have wonderful lristorantes a casino if that be your pleasure and
wonderful hotels as the Des Alpes and
the old standby Wilden mann...The Berneroberland can be turned into some very good days without excessive hiking and that is by riding the various cable cars, gondolas and mountain railroads up to e.g. Grindelwald First, The Mannlichen with cable car down to Wengen
Mountain railway from Grindelwald or
Lauerbrunnen via Wengen to Kleine Scheidigg and up the Jungfrau. From Lauterbrunnen you have the inclice railway up to Murren and from Murren the cable car to the Schlithorn all very good trips on clear days. For rainy or cloudy days use the steamers on Lakes BVrienz and Thun, Ballenberg
is ineresting for Swiss culture for a day..If you have a week split it up three days in Luzern and four in the Bernereoberland. www.berneroberland,ch will give you a
lot of sites to reference. Rail travel is a short time from Luzern to
