How difficult would this be?

The cheapest flights I can find are on KLM airlines and depart at 6:15 am from Venice. We will be staying in Dorsoduro.

The water taxis are quite pricey, but I am thinking the only real option for catching this flight. That might make the cheap airfare not as worth it... any thoughts?

Assuming that you are leaving from Marco Polo, you will want to be at the airport about 5:15, although I think it opens at 5:30.

A water taxi will be about 80E.

I'm not sure where you are flying to, but have you tried looking on Ryanair.com to catch a flight out of Venice? There airport it further away from the city but it is only a 45 minute bus ride to that terminal.

I'm of the opinion that a water taxi is the most convenience option for very early fights out.
